XMtrade^®/ZPE organized the historical first auction of guarantees of the origin in Slovakia

On Thursday, November 5, 2020, OKTE, a.s., organized the historical first auction of guarantees of the origin of electricity from renewable energy sources and guarantees of the origin of electricity produced by highly efficient cogeneration in Slovakia.

Registration of guarantees of origin of electricity is covered by OKTE, a.s., from the beginning of the year. XMtrade^®/ZPE provides for operator of the short-term electricity market not only electronic issuance, but also the management of transfers of electricity guarantees and the auction of unused guarantees, which are placed by OKTE, a.s., on the XMtrade^®/ZPE trading platform.

The auctions are open to any market participant with valid access to the XMtrade^®/ZPE information system. 8 market participants took part in the first auction. Market participants traded guarantees in the amount of 342.8 GWh of electricity, which represents almost half of the available volume (708.421 GWh). The offer included guarantees of the origin of electricity from solar and water sources.

Slovakia became the first of the V4 countries to auction of guarantees of the origin of electricity. OKTE, a.s., plans to organize further auctions on the XMtrade^®/ZPE every 3 months.
