On February 2, 2025, the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava signed an agreement with the Research Agency on the provision of funds from the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism for the project Renewable Energy for the Creation of a Balanced Ecological Carbon Agenda (REBECCA). The project is implemented within the framework of call No. 09I04-03-V02 for the submission of Applications for the provision of funds from the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism to support research projects aimed at decarbonizing the economy in TRL levels 1-3.
The Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava is the project applicant, and the project partners are the Institute of Materials and Machine Mechanics of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, v.v.i,, T - Industry, s.r.o., and the company SFÉRA, a.s.
The project, funded by the European Union from the NextGenerationEU instrument to implement part of investment 4 – Research and Innovation for Decarbonization of the Economy from Component 9 within the framework of the Recovery and Resilience Plan of the Slovak Republic, has the ambition to verify the possibilities of transition to a low-carbon economy in the horizon until 2050 by using available and promising technologies for energy production, storage and distribution, simulating the services of the so-called "community energy" and changing the habits of individuals about energy consumption and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The project aims to create and experimentally demonstrate (proof of concept – TRL 3) the idea of decarbonization of the energy economy of university buildings of the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava using the above methods. The published results of the project, including methodologies, impacts of individual behaviour and comparisons of particular measures, will represent a comprehensive set of recommendations and procedures for society, organizations and institutions on how to approach planning and implementing measures to achieve climate neutrality goals.
